Tour of Museums

One of the Veneto`s most extraordinary historical/artistic districts is just behind the Grappa piedmont.

In the space of a few kilometres, one thousand years of artistic, architectural and historic evolution can be seen.

Four extraordinary places, Asolo, Possagno, Fanzolo di Vedelago and Maser, offer an incalculable wealth of artworks in an area boasting a host of other historical attractions bearing witness to the most important periods of Veneto art, from the Roman Empire to the Medieval, from the Renaissance to the modern day.

The charming historical centres of these four sites provide visitors with the chance to admire stunning Veneto villas, castles, churches and palaces, such as Villa Emo and Villa di Maser, both designed by Vicenza`s renowned architect Andrea Palladio, with frescoes by Paolo Veronese and Giovan Battista Zelotti, in addition to Barco della Regina Cornaro in Altivole, the city walls and cathedral of Castelfranco Veneto, where the Pala di Giorgione is conserved, and the ancient Ezzelini castle tower in San Zenone.

Other examples of contemporary art are on display in San Vito di Altivole, where the architect Carlo Scarpa built the Brion monumental tomb, and in Riese, where Pope Pius X was born, and where his birth home can been toured. The extraordinary monument to the fallen soldiers in the wars stands at the summit of Mount Grappa. The entire piedmont area also offers routes for hikers and horseback riders, to relive the atmosphere of a land rich in architecture documenting a thousand years of history. Visitors who purchase one full-price ticket at any of the four museums receive a discount at the other three.
